Sixth Street Appoints Sir Richard Moore, Former Chief of the UK’s Secret Intelligence Service, as Senior Strategist to the Firm
San Francisco, CA, March 2, 2026 – Sixth Street, a leading global investment firm, today announced the appointment of Sir Richard Moore KCMG as Senior Strategist to the firm. Sir Richard brings deep experience as a senior British intelligence leader and diplomat, most recently serving as Chief of the UK’s Secret Intelligence Service (MI6). He will advise Sixth Street, its capital partners, and clients on dynamics shaping the geopolitical environment, navigating security and risk, and strategic decision-making as the firm continues to expand its global investment platform and identify opportunities across increasingly dynamic markets. He will be resident in the firm’s London office.

Sir Richard Moore has four decades of expertise as a senior leader in intelligence and diplomacy. As Chief of MI6, he led the agency through a period defined by rapid geopolitical change and the advancement of AI and new technologies. Prior to leading MI6, Sir Richard Moore served as Political Director at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Deputy National Security Adviser, and British Ambassador to Turkey. Earlier in his career, he was posted in Vietnam, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Turkey. He was knighted for services to UK national security and foreign policy in 2023. Moore earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University, won a Kennedy Scholarship for post-graduate study at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program. He currently serves as Chair of the Kennedy Memorial Trust.
